Some people can just wing it and get the job done in the moment and then there are marketers. We plan. We plan and we create timelines and we put processes in place all to make sure we’re sticking to The Plan. But let me tell you, after nearly 15 years in the advertising game, I can count on one hand how many of those plans have gone perfectly. So after creating The Plan, we marketers adapt.
Now, can I predict what the holiday season will look like in 2024—with an election cycle thrown right in the middle of it? No, no I cannot. But you know what my marketer brain needs to do? PLAN. And if you want to stay relevant this holiday season, it’s time for you to dust off your strategy hat and get planning, too. We can help you get ahead of the game before the ad dollars start flying this holiday season.
Start Early.
Did you know we are losing FIVE sales days this year because Black Friday starts so late on November 29? You do not want to be left behind for the biggest spending season in the US. Plan your sales, sale dates and offers now. Get your entire team onboard with these incentives so there is no miscommunication and everyone will stay on-brand through the full season as things get more and more chaotic.
Stay Flexible.
Keeping the structure of the sales and dates in place, create placeholders to provide opportunities for some improv as the season gets rolling. You never know which trend is going to take off and what moment and leaving space to get creative on the fly can empower your team and keep your brand relevant.
Share the Love.
While it’s important to your bottom line to sell during the holiday season, it’s also important as humans to find ways to give back. Share how your brand, your team or individuals in your company are celebrating the giving aspect of the season. Volunteer, donate proceeds, or give a solid shout-out to other small businesses in your community.
These are just a few tricks you can use this holiday season to sleigh your Q4 goals. But if you’re looking for something a little more step-by-step and customized (like a marketing strategy that fits your brand as perfectly as your favorite ugly sweater), we’ve got you covered. Our Digital Marketing Analysis and Strategy will guide your team to success and help you absolutely crush those year-end goals. Ready to wrap 2024 up with a bow? Let’s get started!
